Wirral Hospitals Trust has been fined £50,000 for failing to meet government targets of seeing 95% of patients within four hours. I’m not surprised if my last experience is anything to go by. We were kept waiting for three hours for a diagnosis of chickenpox for 6 year old daughter Kate. I knew that it was but daughter Kate’s mum was concerned so off we trooped at 11.30 at night to a very quiet A&E dept. We saw the nurse within ten minutes. It’s chickenpox, she said. So instead of sending us off with some calamine lotion we went through the whole sorry saga of seeing the doc, waiting, being signed off. What a colossal waste of time and purely down to the system or fearing of sending a patient home without the process being followed. What happened to common sense???
