Michael Jackson at Liverpool

The King of Pop drew a crowd in excess of 125,000 when he played at Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool on September 11, 1988. It was the last and biggest concert of the legendary 1987/88 Bad world tour which played to more than 4m fans.

I was sat in the VIP section next to Derek Hatton who lived up to his infamy by offering the Liverpool Echo editor Chris Oakley to settle their differences outside. Degsy was later booted out for robbing ale.

It was an amazing evening, capped by a local schoolgirl taking to the stage and dancing with Jacko. Now I am writing a book reliving the events of 1988 and weaving in the story of that young girl, now a grown up teacher.
